W&P advised PT MC Urban Development Indonesia (MCUDI), a real estate development company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), in its strategic partnership with Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), a sovereign wealth fund of Indonesia, and the ESR Group, the largest real asset manager in Asia Pacific region and the third largest listed real estate investment manager globally, to develop an estimated of US$1 billion worth of logistic assets in Indonesia over the next five years, through joint venture investments in modern warehouse facilities located at Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC), Kawasan Industri Terpadu Indonesia China (KITIC), and Suryacipta Industrial Estate respectively, all of which are well-known prime logistic parks in Cikarang and Karawang, West Java. These facilities offer excellent connectivity and major transportation networks to serve the storage and distribution needs of the surrounding cities, including Jakarta.
We extend our congratulation to the successful collaboration between MC, INA, and ESR in these landmark and prestigious projects, which will directly support the Indonesian government’s plan to improve the growth of Indonesian logistics and modern warehouses to serve the current estimated warehouse market of approximately 29 million square meters for various businesses, especially those driven by e-commerce, 3PL (third-party logistics), and solid automotive industries.
