W&P are proud to be a part of Nippon Steel Corporation’s counsel in its successful joint acquisition with ArcelorMittal SA of Essar Steel India Limited, one of the largest major steel manufacturing companies with fully integrated steelworks and extensive domestic sales channels in India, which owns PT Essar Indonesia, involving payment of a total of US$5.73 billion towards Essar Steel’s debt and total additional investment of US$ 1,1 billion for Essar Steel’s operations and profitability. With the acquisition, Nippon Steel Corporation and ArcelorMittal SA are now controlling the 10 million tonne-per-year Essar Steel plant.
